Local MP calls for sport clubs to apply for inspired facilities fund
Local MP Andrew Bridgen is encouraging the people of North West Leicestershire to get involved with a new programme that will invest in new or existing facilities for community sport.
Sport England has launched a £50 million fund for sporting facilities. This investment is aimed not just at sporting organisations but also at voluntary and community groups with an interest in running sporting activity.
The Inspired Facilities fund is part of the Places People Play legacy programme that is bringing the magic of a home Olympic and Paralympic Games into communities across the country.
The MP for North West Leicestershire is urging people to apply to this programme as creating sustainable sporting facilities would be beneficial to the community. Andrew, who supports these investments, wishes to see many of the North West Leicestershire sports clubs applying for these funds.
He said: “These investments will help push sporting clubs back into the heart of their local communities, where they belong. Attracting more people to take part in sporting activities gives new and exciting opportunities for young people. Sport is a great way to build social inclusion within communities and it helps people maintain a healthier lifestyle.”
