Local MP launches heritage trail
North West Leicestershire MP Andrew Bridgen joined other local dignitaries to formally launch the Coleorton Village Heritage trail.
Andrew joined Jackie Dickinson; Chairman of Leicestershire County Council and Nigel Smith; Chairman of NWLDC, at Viscount Beaumont School where the trail was launched by the Coleorton 2000 Committee.
The Chair of Coleorton 2000 Committee, Mrs Elaine Oldham, spoke of the work of the Committee and how the Heritage Trail had evolved. She then went on to thank various organisations, including the parish council, for their financial support.
Andrew said: “Coleorton has a long and substantial heritage which was showcased as you walk through the Village Heritage Trail, as you stop and admire sights such as Coleorton Wood, St. John’s Chapel, Coleorton Railway, the Woolrooms, the Communal Bakery and many more.”
The event was well attended with groups going on guided walks for some or all of the trail. Tea and homemade cakes were enjoyed in return for a donation to Coleorton 2000 funds.
