Local MP shows support for tourism in North West Leicestershire
Andrew Bridgen, MP for North West Leicestershire, confirmed his support for the leisure and tourism sector in his constituency at an industry briefing held on 16 March 2012 as part of English Tourism Week.
Co-ordinated by Leicester Shire Promotions and hosted at the Radisson Blu Hotel at East Midlands Airport, Andrew was joined by representatives from other local tourism businesses including Radisson Blu Hotel, Best Western Yew Lodge Hotel, National Forest Company, National Forest Charitable Trust and Conkers.
Commenting on the briefing, Andrew said: “I am fully supportive of the leisure and tourism sector and am keen to pursue opportunities for the industry to encourage business growth in North West Leicestershire.
“A wide ranging discussion covered many areas including how the Localism Act will ensure business rates will be retained by the area, how to target the 26 million people who live in a radius of a two hour drive of North West Leicestershire to stay overnight in the district, and looking at Leicester Shire Promotions’ successful ‘Stay Play Explore’ short break campaigns and how they can add value to our local tourism offer,” added Andrew.
