MP Andrew Bridgen congratulates Community Group
Local MP Andrew Bridgen has congratulated the Coleorton 2000 Committee at the topping out party following the renovation of the Old Bakehouse.
The Coleorton 2000 Committee have been renovating the Old Bakehouse for the past year. Coleorton Community Bakehouse is located on The Moor, opposite the post box just down from Pitt Lane.
Research to date indicates that the building may have been erected around 1813 by Sir George Beaumont as a resource for his tenants in the village.
The final roof tiles were laid and bedded down on the 2nd of December. All the work has been done by volunteers and construction was carried out, using, where possible the bricks and roof tiles from the original building.
Andrew said: “I want to congratulate the group for their hard work in bringing the building back to being a sound structure. The Bakehouse will be here for generations to come as a reminder of the heritage of Coleorton.”
The Coleorton 2000 Committee also gave special thanks to Clive Underwood the Architect, who gave guidance on the rebuilding.
