MP encourages charity text fundraiser
Local MP Andrew Bridgen is encouraging charities in Leicestershire to make use of a golden opportunity to raise money by a new text service.
Charities and individuals raising money can use JustTextGiving developed by Vodafone on a not-for-profit basis.
Andrew, the MP for North West Leicestershire said: “The JustTextGiving service allows charities to raise money by text message, which is a free, swift way of fundraising.
“This service should encourage charitable donations, especially among the younger generation who are comfortable with using mobile technology. I encourage all charities in North West Leicestershire to set this up.”
JustTextGiving is free to set up, with every penny donated going to the charity. Donations can be made by the customer of any network provider without network charges and gift aid can also be claimed on each donation. It is estimated that text donations could be worth £96 million by 2014.
The charities currently using this service in North West Leicestershire are:
Agar Nook Community Association
Church Gresley Disabilities Group
James Peacock Infant and Nursery School Fund
Snibston and Desford Colliery Band And the Desford Academy
The Phoenix Childrens Foundation
Whitwick Community Coffee Shop
