Andrew Bridgen MP becomes Patron of Ashby Canal Association.

Local MP, Andrew Bridgen, has agreed to become the first ever patron of the Ashby Canal Association. Mr Bridgen has been a long time supporter of the restoration of the canal. The charity is 50 years old and decided to appoint Mr Bridgen as its firs patron in recognition of his support over a long period.

Andrew said:
"I'm very pleased to lend my name and support to ACA's work to restore the canal all the way to the existing section at Moira Furnace and Conkers in the heart of the National Forest. This will bring futher environmental and economic regeneration to this area as it moves on from its mining heritage and becomes a top class tourist destination."
