Joining in the celebrations was North West Leicestershire MP Andrew Bridgen, who visited the circuit to see the impressive Spark-Renault SRT_01E Formula E cars for himself. He also caught up with Donington Park Managing Director Christopher Tate, to discuss the benefits Formula E’s arrival has brought to the community – including 150 highly-skilled new jobs.

Mr Bridgen said: “I am delighted to be present at Donington Park in my constituency to celebrate National Motorsport Week. The ongoing global success by the British motorsport industry continues to bring much-valued recognition to the UK, and delivers business growth, investment and employment across the country. Donington Park is a fantastic example of the great boost to the North West Leicestershire economy that the motorsport industry brings.”

Donington Park is now the new home for the FIA Formula E and its teams thanks to a custom built 44,000 ft² premises. The state-of-the- art headquarters – catering for more than 150 staff, engineers and team personnel, officially opened in May.

Managing Director Christopher Tate, added: “We’re very proud of the fact that we have been able to bring Formula E to Donington Park. It is not only testament to the great motoring heritage we have here, but also a great boost for the local economy and the benefits of this arrival will be huge.

“It’s only fitting that we celebrate our Formula E test days during National Motorsport Week – especially as motorsport is now so integral to the success of the local area. You only have to look around to see how immensely popular the arrival of Formula E has been already.”

The official Formula E testing kicked off on July 3rd, with all 10 Formula E teams given five full test days. Each one is open to the public free of charge, allowing fans unprecedented access to see and hear the 200kw (270bhp) Spark-Renault SRT_01E single-seaters in action for the first time. Remaining test days are due to take place on July 9th and 10th with a further test day scheduled for August 19th.

Please note that spectators will need to pre-register their attendance in order to gain access to the testing, although no fee will be charged. Further details on how members of the public can attend the FIA Formula E test days is available via www.donington-park.co.uk.
