Andrew Bridgen asks the Deputy Prime Minister if it is possible that new constituencies could cross regional boundaries.

Andrew Bridgen (North West Leicestershire) (Con): Can the Deputy Prime Minister confirm whether the new, reconstituted constituencies will cross current regional boundaries?

The Deputy Prime Minister: They may do, but the intention is that they will none the less retain the key building block of any constituency, which is ward boundaries. We want to keep that building block in place, as it would be simply too complicated to conduct the boundary review on the scale that has been proposed by any other means.
